It is a great option if you want to open a savings account with very low initial deposit and NO maintaining balance.

You heard it right kabayan! You don’t need to worry about ‘closed account due to not sufficient balance‘ because BPI easy saver does not require any single centavo maintaining balance.

All you need to know about BPI easy saver savings

This short article will share easy steps and requirements you need to know how to open a BPI easy saver savings account here in the Philippines.

Update: Easy Savers hold the 5 Pesos as a “maintaining balance” so you will see a discrepancy in your account, and if you withdraw everything in your ATM with an Easy Savers account, it will go to a negative balanced state which will close your account.

BPI easy saver savings account Requirements

  • 2 valid IDs (original and photocopy)
  • Billing statement – Latest Meralco or Maynilad bill will do(doesn’t need to be under your name but address should be the same as your current address)
  • 2 copies of 2×2 or 1×1 photos
  • P150.00 initial deposit

*New requirement:

  • TIN number (in earlier part of 2016, almost all establishments doing financial transactions ask to require TIN numbers from their clients/customers)

4 Easy steps to open BPI easy saver savings account

1. Go to the nearest BPI branch in your area. Tell the banker that you’re going to open a BPI easy saver account.

2. Fill up the application form and submit all necessary requirements advised by the bank teller. Make sure to double check all the information.

3. The bank teller will process your application. Once done, they will give you your BPI easy saver ATM card.

4. Change the PIN of your BPI easy saver ATM and you’re done!

You have now your BPI easy saver account. The P200.00 initial deposit will not immediately reflect on your balance. You can check that later on.

Benefits of BPI easy saver account

Here are some of the benefits you’ll have when you open a BPI easy saver.

  • Low initial deposit (P150.00)
  • NO maintaining balance
  • Works as a regular savings account
  • ATM card (convenient to use anywhere)
  • You can enroll in BPI online banking

Fees of BPI easy saver account

  1. P5.00 fee every withdraw from your account
  2. P100.00 fee for every over the counter withdrawal in BPI branch
  3. P1.75 fee for balance inquiry in non-BPI banks
  4. P15 fee when withdrawing to non-BPI ATM machines (same as other banks/ATM)

Update: Easy Savers hold the 5 Pesos as a “maintaining balance” so you will see a discrepancy in your account, and if you withdraw everything in your ATM with an Easy Savers account, it will go to a negative balanced state which will close your account.

BPI Easy saver detailsBPI easy saver Review and Conclusion

Based on personal experience, the BPI easy saver account is a good alternative. It can serve as your emergency fund savings account or can be your savings account itself.

I’m using my BPI easy saver for online transaction and it really helps a lot. This is our alternative aside from other BPI savings account I have which my company provided for our salary.

I can transfer money back and forth from this account to our other BPI account online and I’m not worried about maintaining any balance since it’s not required. I also didn’t experience any issue with my BPI easy saver account.

If you’re looking for a savings account with NO maintaining balance and low initial deposit in a good and stable bank, BPI easy saver might be the best option for you.

Update: Easy Savers hold the 5 Pesos as a “maintaining balance” so you will see a discrepancy in your account, and if you withdraw everything in your ATM with an Easy Savers account, it will go to a negative balanced state which will close your account.

Hi! I would just like to ask if it’s okay if I cut the last 2 digits of my account number? BPI easy savers account had 10 digit account numbers. Apparently, paypal is asking for only 8. What should I do? Would it make a difference? Is it necessary to include all the 10 digit account numbers?

As far as I know, you can’t link BPI’s Easy Saver account to Paypal. Iirc, only those debit cards who have VISA or MASTERCARD logo are acceptable to use for paypal account verification.

I have BPI Easy Saver, but I have used Smartmoney to verify my Paypal. You can also use RCBC eWallet (not sure about the account type/name).

What do you mean? If there was a deduction on your account without your knowledge, better to ask the bank itself to see their records. You can also check via the transaction history to see if the report is available. Thanks!

Mximum deposit amount is not stated although the maximum deposit insurance is P500,000 so I think the account can hold more than 500k. 🙂

    Hi Billy,

Thank you for this informative article. I have been intending to open this type of account with BPI but I have some questions that you might be able to answer:

    1. Can I opt for a bankbook instead of an ATM card? Or do they even have that option? The reason why I don’t want to have an ATM card is because I am always tempted to spend my money. So if I don’t have the luxury of a card my money will be safe. Haha.

    2. Do they accept a school ID as ‘valid ID’?

    Your response is much appreciated!

BPI easy saver is for ATM savings. They have separate savings account for passbook. School ID is ok as long it is valid but you need to have other supporting documents aside from school ID.

When I got home and checked my papers, the teller actually
gave me the envelope that says “initial deposit” with

be the one to actually make the deposit

Hi guys i open for my personal savings account @ BPI Easy saver account. i will share what i experience yesterday.

i ask the guard which line is for opening account and then he said in # 6 then he give me a number card.
then when my no. called the teller ask me what type of account i would like to open then i said “Easy Saver”

she said if i already complete my requirements
    2×2 pic – 1pc
2 valid id – original and xerox
1 Tin ID ( if student i don’t if school id is allowed)
1 billing receipt ( take note make a photocopy of it) i forgot to xerox my billing so that i fall in line again tsk hassle so make sure you already photocopy of all requirement needed. so i fill up all the information required, then my number called.

my initial deposit is 250 pesos although they ask you how much would you like to deposit. and then she said i will go back @ thursday 4 business days to claim my ATM CARD which is i confused that billy got his ATM card right away when he open an account. but anyway maybe its different branch process.
and also there are many clients na nakasabay ko a student, kids , which is good that anyone can open an account.

im so excited and happy that i can open a bank account for a small amount of deposit and no maintaining balance required! thanks for this blog and the author of this. 🙂

Not sure if there has been any changes since 2 or 3 years ago, but back then (or at least in my experience), the ATM Card that will come with any BPI Easy Saver account cannot be used with PayPal as a means of its verification — You can only link it to it for withdrawal purposes, that is granting that your PayPal account is already verified.

2 years ago, I personally had to register for BPI’s e-Prepaid MasterCard (a prepaid debit card) worth 500 pesos just to have my PayPal account be fully verified.

So, it’s 4/25/2016 and I tried applying for an Easy Saver account in BPI. I just want to share my experience, so everyone can get a heads up.

First off, the Easy Saver account is only available for students. Yep, that’s right. ONLY. FOR. STUDENTS.

And it took me an hour to find out too. Cause apparently, it takes about 30-45 minutes just to process one applicant.

Very poor cs from BPI and the website’s lack of info ( FOR STUDENTS ONLY ACCOUNT – that’s freaking 4 words ) is really… I don’t know… unprofessional? stupid?

Hopefully you guys had a better experience, but I’m definitely not going back there anytime soon.

Super helpful blogpost. And also just to share, I opened my BPI Easy Savers acct. yesterday. Hassle-free as long as you have the requirements. What I brought with me were:

PRC ID (the teller told me that if this was the valid id brought, no need for another ID. however, I still had an extra one, my Unified GSIS/SSS ID, just in case)
1×1 photo (the teller only took one, but I guess it won’t hurt to bring at least 2)
TIN number (i dont know if this varies per branch)
Fees (200php as initial and 50php for the card itself)
    Photocopy/ies of IDs brought

After giving the requirements, just fill-up the forms needed.
She told me that my acct is already active and my ATM card will be ready for pick-up after a week (depends on the branch). The whole process oly took me at least 20-30mins.

Again thanks Billy for your post. I hate going to places unprepared since it gives me anxiety, and this article really helped ?☺ More power!!

I’m planning to apply for a BPI Easy Savers account at the Commonwealth Branch (the one in Barangay Holy Spirit) within the week but I just have a few concerns:

    – If I only have a Driver’s License (+ Photocopy of it), will this suffice? Or will they ask me to present another Valid ID?
    – Do I still need to bring a Utility bill for the Billing Address verification?
    – My TIN number is still in process, is there any chance that they might not ask for it?

If any of you guys have had an experience with the BPI Commonwealth branch, your input will be very much appreciated!

Eh EPS ngayon yung card ng bpi so hindi yan malilink sa Paypal. At yung fee, kapag mahigit 7k ang iwithdraw mo gamit ang bank account, libre yan.

    Hello sir Billy!

Thank you for this post, just a quick update regarding Easy Savers account
It’s card fee is now 150 Pesos. Every withdrawal transaction will cost 5 Pesos (through BPI ATM, shopping, etc.). Inquiring balance in other ATMs will cost 1.75 Pesos and withdrawing in them will deduct 15 Pesos. Easy Savers hold the 5 Pesos as a “maintaining balance” so you will see a discrepancy in your account, and if you withdraw everything in your ATM with an Easy Savers account, it will go to a negative balanced state which will close your account.

Withdrawing over-the-counter will be free, if you withdraw an amount of 20,000 and above.

Nope. Apparently all financial establishments required TIN number when making new transactions. You can easily apply for a tin number on BIR. You just need a list of requirements that shows you need a tin number, birth certificate and a duly accomplished form 1904.

I am so glad na nakapag open ako ng easy saver account! Nagpasa lang ako ng 2 IDs, Student ID and Passport, and I am a student! Kahit pang grade 10 yung id ko (ngayon grade 11 na) tinanggap pa rin! Very easy!
